In cooperation with the organization GermanZero<\/em>, we want to use the means of direct democracy (citizens petitions and decisions) to create the basis for implementing sufficiently committed climate protection at the level of Jena’s city politics and administration.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Stages to Climate Neutrality<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Step 1: Citizens Petition <\/strong>[done \u2714]<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

We are successful! The city council has decided our demands ahead of time. \ud83c\udf89<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Preparation of the voting question<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Submitting a voting question<\/strong> to the City for legal review, adjusting if necessary.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Start of the citizens petition:<\/strong> Approx. 6000 valid signatures must be collected within four months.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Verification of signatures <\/strong>for validity by the city<\/s><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Acceptance and resolution of the demands<\/strong> by the City Council (or a modified version with preservation of the basic concern in consultation with the persons of trust of the petition)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Citizens vote<\/strong>
    If the simple majority votes in favor, the decision is adopted with the binding force of a city council resolution<\/s>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    <\/strong>Step 2: Create Climate Action Plan<\/strong> [done \u2714<\/mark><\/em>]<\/mark><\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    The climate office target GmbH<\/a> will prepare a Climate Action Plan (KAP) within a year (expected by the end of 2022) by “including a climate neutrality scenario with the necessary measures, the implementation of which will lead Jena to climate neutrality by 2035.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
